Well someone in New Zealand has just picked up on John's comments about Palmeston North (suicide capital of NZ) and all hell has broken loose! The indignant major of that godforsaken place (Hamilton and Invercargill are far worse by the way) has been on the news all day defending her town!
We are a very small country with a well defined inferiority complex we must know that you love us, our country and everything about us - or we suffer a major crisis of confidence. Please say you love us please please!
OK - It gets worse the good people of Palmy are now demanding that John make a public apology
Well - John Cleese is absolutely correct.
It is a boring place, if it wasn't for the University - the place would be Eketahuna.
The Mayor of the town is a known lightweight and humourless to boot.
And now some person on the news is saying that they want John Cleese to say it again, somethign abuot tourism...
